Emily Guille-Marrett

Emily is our editorial and storytelling expert. She is your go-to woman for publishing consultancy, content strategy and creation.

She has worked in children’s educational and home learning publishing for over 15 years. She has created innovative print and digital primary literacy content for international publishing houses including: Oxford University Press, Pearson Education, Collins Education and Penguin Children’s (Ladybird). She has published some of the country’s leading educationalists such as: Pie Corbett, Nikki Gamble and Debbie Hepplewhite. Authors she has commissioned include: Roderick Hunt (Oxford Reading Tree), Julia Donaldson (Songbirds Phonics) and Jean Adamson (Topsy and Tim). Most recently she joint series edited the new Collins Big Cat Phonics for Letters and Sounds. She has years of experience creating and delivering training and story events for libraries, literacy charities and schools. She also lectures on Writing for Children at Canterbury Christchurch University.

Charlotte Raby

Charlotte is our educational expert with over 20 years in teaching, educational publishing and training. She supports schools and advises organisations on how to ensure excellence in teaching Primary English. She is joint Series Editor of the new Collins Big Cat Phonics for Letters and Sounds and author of over 50 educational teacher resources, programmes and learn to read books. Her most recent work focusing on closing the word gap is published by Rising Stars. Charlotte is also the lead lecturer in English at Essex and Thames Primary SCITT.

Charlotte was a senior consultant and developed training for Ruth Miskin Training. She co-wrote the Read Write Inc Literacy and Language programme. She has years of experience teaching and running reading and writing workshops in schools and other settings. Charlotte studied for a B.Ed (Cantab) English Drama and Education at Homerton College Cambridge. She leads the HEI partnership with the Open University Research Rich Pedagogies and is passionate that all teachers understand the balance between teaching children to read using systematic synthetic phonics and instilling a love of reading through developing their own knowledge, reading aloud and creating rich reading environments in schools.

Kelly Weekes

Kelly is our marketing expert with almost 20 years experience of marketing in media and publishing. She is the person to help with your social media strategy and training, marketing campaigns and partnerships.

She was Head of Fiction Marketing at HarperCollins and then Head of Marketing, followed by Digital Marketing Director at Hodder&Stoughton Publishers. She has worked with a wide range of major bestselling authors including Stephen King and Jodi Picoult. She has also worked in media marketing and was responsible for the marketing for woman&home media brand from 2011 to 2015 during which time it won the PPA magazine and brand of the year awards (2014). She has extensive experience of brand marketing, advertising, establishing promotional partnerships, managing charity partnerships, conference and event organisation, social media and online marketing.

Most recently Kelly refreshed her social media knowledge through studying with the award-winning Digital Mums ensuring that her social media knowledge is completely up to date and has since been supporting children’s authors by creating social media strategies, offering advice on best practice and running social media accounts.

Kelly has spent much of her career focused on marketing in the adult market, working with authors as diverse as Stephen King, Jodi Picoult, Jeffery Deaver, John Connolly, Philippa Gregory, Sir Michael Parkinson and Russell Brand in her previous roles. Now a mother of two boys who devour books (the 2 year old quite literally) she has fallen in love with the children’s market, spends more than she can afford on children’s books and is spurred on to use her powers and skills for the forces of good and to work to get more books into the hands of children.

In particular Kelly loves helping authors and publishers with their social media and marketing and is currently supporting well-loved children’s authors with their social media activity.

This summer Kelly is celebrating #BlytonDays and all the many wonderful things about the world’s best-loved storyteller, Enid Blyton, across her social media channels. Read more
